The bay encloses a salt-water basin of some 155 km2. Sandy beaches, backed by sand-dunes and pine-forests stretch the whole length of the 84 km perimeter of the triangular Bay of Arcachon. Gujan-Mestras and Le Teich are set along the south of the bay. No further than 50 km from Bordeaux you are very close to the town of Arcachon and the Atlantic coast.

The Arcachon's Bay is protected from the ocean waves by the Cap Ferret peninsula, and linked to the ocean via narrow.

With its unique and attractive microclimate in each season, the poetry of its sites this area is ideal for holidays.

A stay on the "Bassin d'Arcachon" represents a choice between lots of activities. On one hand you benefit from the Ocean's proximity, its huge beaches and its roaring rollers, on the other hand from the originality of the "Bassin" with its islands populated by birds, its shells and its quiet beaches. Even if you find profusion of vegetation and architectural splendours quite near, you can discover the further region in passing a day in Bordeaux, the other one in the vineyards of the Médoc, of Saint-Emilion, of the "Entre Deux Mers" or of the Sauternais.

The access is easy, as well by the road as by the rail ("Train Express Régional" Bordeaux-Arcachon).

Even the "TGV" ("Train à Grande Vitesse") connects Paris to Arcachon within 4 hours.

Gujan-Mestras which is on the line Bordeaux-Arcachon has its own station.

The whole population living on the South "Bassin" does not exceed the 50.000 inhabitants what gives a human and warm dimension to your stay.

We are going to give you a short outline of the possible activities by classifying them according to the distance from our house.

5 minutes by car, 15 by bicycle:

We are located between Le Teich and Gujan Mestras. So we are very close to the Ornithological Park and to the sailing harbour of Le Teich with its swimming pond where you can swim without having to support the effects of the changing tides.

In Le Teich you will find also: the House of the nature, the bases of canoe, a riding school, etc.

Enjoy nice walks on the coast path or on the edges of the Leyre river!

La Hume:

Beach on the bay, the oyster and sailing port, tennis, Medieval Village of Art, the Park of "La Chêneraie" (oak trees), the Wildlife Park of "la Coccinelle", the "Aqualand" and the mini-golf.

15 minutes by car:

Golf of Gujan Mestras. A 27 holes course being a member of the golf courses chain "Blue Greens".

20 minutes by car:

La Teste:

Swimming pool, Hippodrome, private airport, Zoo (on Cazaux's road).

Golf Club of Arcachon:

very nice 18 holes. Par 72 with beautiful sights.
